Plan · cut · piece

Quilt backing,
pieced with a plan.

Compare full-width panels with a three-piece T-seam layout. See the raw cut sizes, purchase length, and how the pieces fit together before you cut.

Your chosen overhang is a planning input, not a guarantee of longarm suitability. Confirm it and the seam placement with your quilter.

How the estimate works

Every join consumes two seam allowances: one from each joined edge.

Full-width panels
Uses as many fabric-width panels as needed to cover the requested backing width after joining. Extra width is trimmed after sewing.

Three-piece T-seam
Uses one full-length main panel and two shorter, side-by-side cuts. It can use less length, with one additional seam to sew.

This is a cut-planning aid, not a sewing pattern. It assumes square cuts, no stretching, and the same orientation for every piece. Grain/print alignment is not motif matching.
